Akron, OH (November 24, 2024) – An injury car crash occurred on November 24, causing significant damage to a Swensons location in West Akron, resulting in injuries for two individuals, including a worker at the restaurant. The incident took place just after 1:30 a.m., moments after the restaurant closed for the night.
According to Akron police, the 30-year-old female driver lost control of her car, crashing through the front of the Swensons building. The driver and an 18-year-old male employee were both injured in the crash. The employee, who was shaken but not critically hurt, was treated for injuries at the scene. Thankfully, no serious injuries were reported.
The Akron Fire Department assisted with the extraction of the car from the wreckage. The police also managed the traffic situation, rerouting drivers to avoid the area while cleanup and investigation efforts took place.
Following the accident, the West Akron Swensons location was closed for repairs, but a food truck will serve customers from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. until the restaurant reopens.
Our thoughts and well wishes to the injured and the Swensons team. We hope for a full recovery and support during this difficult time.
