According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the crash took place at approximately 6:20 p.m. at the intersection of US 6 and OH 61.
Authorities report that Green was a passenger in a 2016 Chevrolet Suburban driven by a 67-year-old Vermilion woman. The Suburban was attempting to turn left onto OH 61 when it failed to yield to an oncoming 2018 Dodge Journey. The two cars collided, causing significant damage.
Following the crash, emergency responders, including fire department personnel, worked quickly to extract the victims from their vehicles. Alethea Green was transported to Firelands Regional Medical Center in Sandusky, where she was later pronounced dead from her injuries.
