Cleveland, OH (November 30, 2024) – An injury bus crash occurred on Friday, November 29, when a car ran a red light and collided with a Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (GCRTA) bus on Cleveland’s east side. The incident, reported by a GCRTA spokesperson, took place at approximately 9:00 p.m. near the intersection of East 26th Street and St. Clair Avenue.
According to Bob Fleig from the GCRTA, the car’s driver failed to stop at the red light, striking the side of the bus. GCRTA Transit Police, Cleveland Fire, and EMS teams responded swiftly to the scene. The fire department assisted in the extraction of the vehicles, ensuring the safety of all involved. The authorities managed the situation, including controlling traffic and clearing the wreckage.
The car’s driver, a 51-year-old woman, was transported to MetroHealth Hospital for treatment, while a 17-year-old girl was taken to a nearby medical facility. Three other individuals from the scene refused treatment. Fortunately, the bus operated by the RTA was not damaged, and no passengers were injured.
