Pedestrian Accidents in Ohio
Pedestrian crashes happen in Ohio on a daily basis. According to statistics from the Ohio Department of Public Safety, more than 3,000 crashes involving pedestrians are reported annually in our state. Pedestrian accidents have a much greater potential than other types of collisions to cause serious harm. This is because a pedestrian crash happens suddenly and the pedestrian has no protection from the force of the collision. Ultimately, more than 80% of all Ohio pedestrian accidents will result in injuries, compared to less than a 30% injury rate for accidents involving two or more cars.
If you have been hurt in a pedestrian accident or if your family has been affected, you should seek to protect your legal rights as soon as possible. Under Ohio law, accident victims may be entitled to compensation for their injuries. This includes the right to be compensated for lost wages, pain and suffering, and medical costs. Due to the serious injuries that often occur in Ohio pedestrian accidents, the damages in each case can be quite large.
