Columbus, OH (December 1, 2024) – A tragic multi-car crash occurred on Sunday afternoon in North Columbus, resulting in one death and one serious injury. The incident, reported by the Columbus Division of Police, took place shortly before 4:40 p.m. at the intersection of Cleveland Avenue and Minerva Avenue, just outside of the Minerva Park neighborhood.

According to the Columbus Division of Police, a man driving a 2008 Buick Lacrosse veered left of center into the southbound lanes of Cleveland Ave, striking both a 2011 Mercedes-Benz and a 2015 Nissan Altima. The crash caused significant damage to all three cars, prompting an urgent response from emergency services.

First responders, including firefighters, worked to extract the victims from the wreckage. The man driving the Buick Lacrosse was rushed to Riverside Hospital in critical condition but tragically succumbed to his injuries later that evening at 8:48 p.m. Meanwhile, the driver of the Nissan Altima, who was also critically injured, was transported to Riverside in serious condition. However, their condition has since improved, and they are currently undergoing treatment. The driver of the Mercedes-Benz was uninjured in the crash.

The crash caused a temporary closure of Cleveland Avenue as authorities worked to clear the wreckage and investigate the cause of the collision. The area has since been reopened to traffic. The Columbus Division of Police continues to investigate the incident, and while the exact cause of the driver’s deviation from the centerline remains unclear, all factors are being carefully reviewed.

Our deepest condolences go out to the family and friends of the deceased, and we wish a full and speedy recovery to the injured driver.
