Ohio Pedestrian Accidents  Columbus, OH – Pedestrian Killed in Crash on Dyer Rd.

Pedestrians are among the most vulnerable accident victims on our local roadways. According to The Ohio Department of Public Safety, more than 14,000 pedestrian crashes were reported on our state’s roadways between 2017 and 2022. These crashes have a greater than 80% reported injury rate and, sadly, 847 pedestrians were killed. One-third of fatal pedestrian accidents during this same time period took place on a Friday, Saturday, or Sunday and the majority of pedestrian crashes take place between the hours of 6:00 p.m. and midnight.

It goes without saying that pedestrian accidents are more likely than other types of crashes to produce serious and catastrophic injuries. The reason for this is fairly obvious as pedestrians have no protection from the force and impact of a collision. Instead, pedestrians usually bear the full impact of the crash and are likely to end up with traumatic injuries as a result.
