Darby Township, OH (February 16, 2024) – Police in Darby Township responded to the scene of a fatal crash on Wednesday, February 15th. The accident took place just before 1:00 p.m. on U.S. Highway 62.
According to a report from the scene, a Peterbilt semi-truck and a 2022 gray Hyundai collided with one another. Investigators were able to determine that 52-year-old Paul J. Marks, of Millersport, Ohio, was operating the semi-truck southbound on Highway 62 when the truck collided with the Hyundai in the southbound lane. The driver of the Hyundai was identified as 40-year-old Nicole Van Gundy, of Orient, Ohio. Van Gundy sustained critical injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Marks suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to Grant Medical Center. An 8-year-old passenger in the Hyundai sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Nationwide Children’s Hospital for treatment.
There is no word on whether any charges are expected to be filed in connection with the accident. An investigation remains ongoing at this time. No further information is available.
