Darke Co, OH (November 12, 2024) – An injury bus crash occurred on November 11 in Darke County. The incident, reported by the Darke County Sheriff’s Office, took place around 2:30 p.m. at the intersection of State Route 121 and Children’s Home Bradford Road near Piqua. 

According to the Darke County Sheriff’s Office, a vehicle driven by 22-year-old Matthew Arron Dodd of Piqua collided with a Greenville City school bus. The force of the impact caused significant damage to both vehicles. The bus, driven by 63-year-old Mary Emrick, had just completed her route and was empty of students at the time of the crash. 

The passenger in the vehicle, 18-year-old Katie Meyer of Piqua, sustained critical injuries and was flown by CareFlight to Miami Valley Hospital for immediate treatment. Bus driver Mary Emrick was transported to Wayne Healthcare in Greenville. Local police are investigating the incident.
