Dayton, OH (February 19, 2024) – A Dayton man was killed and others were injured in a crash that took place on Sunday afternoon. The accident happened at the intersection of Harshman Road and State Route 4.
According to a report from the scene, a 57-year-old man was driving a 2019 Nissan Altima on I-4 and attempting to turn onto Harshman Road. As the man turned, the Altima was struck by a 2023 Hyundai being driving southeast on Harshman Road. The Altima driver died at the scene. He was later identified as Leonard La Poma. The female driver of the Hyundai and two children in her vehicle were transported to Dayton Children’s Hospital with undisclosed injuries. The woman’s identity has not been released at this time. Police closed the road while they investigated the crash and cleared the area. Drivers were advised to avoid the scene and to find alternate routes of travel if possible. At this time, it is unknown who was at fault for the accident. An investigation is underway.
