Delaware County, OH (December 9, 2024) – An injury semi-truck crash occurred early Thursday morning on Interstate 71 South, resulting in serious injuries to a Delaware County sheriff’s deputy. The incident took place around 4:00 a.m. while the deputy was investigating an earlier crash. According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP), a semi-truck lost control, jackknifed, and veered off the west side of the road.
The semi struck the deputy and a Camry that had been involved in a separate collision. At the time of the crash, both sheriff’s cruisers had their emergency lights activated. Medics immediately transported the injured deputy and the driver of the Camry to a nearby hospital with serious injuries.
Emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene, managing traffic and securing the area for safety. Firefighters assisted in extracting the vehicles while OSHP and local law enforcement worked to control the situation. Fortunately, no fatalities were reported, but the incident serves as a reminder of the daily dangers faced by law enforcement officers.
Our thoughts and condolences go out to Deputy Golden, his family, and all those affected by this tragic event.
