Franklin Co, OH (November 29, 2024) – An injury multi-car crash occurred on Friday evening, temporarily shutting down the southbound lanes of I-270 near the I-70 interchange on the west side of Columbus. The incident involved between five and seven cars, including a semi-truck, which jackknifed into the western wall of the highway around 9:00 p.m.

According to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, ice on the bridge past I-70 played a significant role in causing the crash, as multiple vehicles lost control. Emergency responders, including fire crews and multiple tow trucks, were on the scene to extricate the vehicles and clear the wreckage. ODOT crews salted the bridge to prevent further incidents.

Two individuals were transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and are reported to be in stable condition. The southbound lanes of I-270 were closed for a while, but traffic began to flow again around 9:30 p.m. after the roadway was partially cleared. The sheriff’s office confirmed no fatalities occurred during the crash.

Our condolences to those affected by the incident, and we wish the injured individuals a swift recovery.
