Hancock Co, OH (November 18, 2024) – A serious injury pedestrian crash occurred Monday morning at Liberty-Benton Local Schools, resulting in an 11-year-old student being taken to the hospital after being struck by a vehicle in the high school parking lot. The incident, reported by the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office, took place at approximately 7:30 a.m. at the campus located at 9190 County Rd 9.

According to the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office, an 18-year-old driver struck the 11-year-old student while maneuvering through the parking lot. Emergency medical services (EMS) arrived at the scene and transported the injured student to Blanchard Valley Hospital for immediate treatment. 

The authorities were able to secure the area, manage traffic, and ensure the safety of the other students and staff present. Firefighters also assisted in controlling the situation and removing the vehicles from the scene.

The crash remains under investigation by the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office, which has confirmed that the situation is being closely monitored, and further details will be provided as the investigation progresses.
