Lawrence Co, OH (January 16, 2025) – An injury four-car crash occurred on Wednesday afternoon on US 52 near Ironton. Fortunately, no serious injuries were reported, though four people were hurt in the incident. The crash, which disrupted traffic for several hours, was confirmed by the Hamilton Township Fire Department.

According to the fire department chief, the accident began when a car in the fast eastbound lane collided with a car in the slow lane, setting off a chain reaction. One of the cars had broken down earlier and was pulled over on the shoulder. A driver had stopped to assist the stranded vehicle when the collision occurred. The impact forced the car in the slow lane into the van of the assisting driver, propelling the van into the disabled car.

The collision caused one of the cars to cross the median and travel into the westbound lanes. Fortunately, no additional vehicles were struck in the westbound lanes. Emergency medical teams arrived promptly at the scene, transporting the injured to local hospitals. Thankfully, the injuries were not life-threatening.

Firefighters were involved in the extraction of vehicles and ensuring the area was safe. Authorities worked quickly to control the scene, manage traffic, and reopen lanes. All lanes on US 52 were cleared after several hours of work.

Our thoughts and condolences go out to those affected by this incident. We wish the individuals involved and their families a speedy recovery.
