Lee Township, OH (December 22, 2023) – A fatal head-on collision was reported on Friday in Lee Township. The accident happened just after 12:00 p.m. on County Road 10 in Monroe County.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol responded to the accident scene. According to an initial report from authorities, 43-year-old Ty Burkhart, of Sardis, was traveling westbound in a Ford Fiesta. At the same time, 45-year-old David Stalnaker was traveling eastbound on the same road in a 2020 Dodge Ram. The two vehicles then collided head-on with each other. Burkhart suffered critical injuries and died at the scene. Stalnaker suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to Reynolds Memorial Hospital for further treatment. The cause of the accident remains under investigation at this time. The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, the Sardis EMS, and the New Matamoras EMS also assisted at the scene. No further information is available at this time.
