Pedestrian Accidents in Ohio
Pedestrian accidents do not occur as often as other types of crashes in Ohio. However, whey they do occur, they are more likely to result in injuries. The reason should be relatively obvious as pedestrians have little protection from the force and full impact of a car accident. When they are struck by vehicles, pedestrians can suffer major injuries such as:
- Head trauma or TBIs
- Broken bones
- Neck and spinal cord trauma
- Strains and sprains
- Scarring and disfigurement
- Death
Many serious pedestrian crashes occur on Ohio’s roadways each year. In a majority of these accidents, the pedestrian is not at fault. Instead, the driver of the vehicle most often failed to see or yield to the injured victim and, in the process, caused a collision to occur.
