Miami Co, OH (August 22, 2024) – A severe collision on Wednesday afternoon in Miami County resulted in one person’s death and another’s injury. The crash occurred at approximately 5:10 p.m. at the intersection of Alcony Conver Rd and SR-55, according to the Miami County Sheriff’s Office.
Lt. Randy Slusher reported that a pickup truck and a second vehicle collided at the intersection, causing both vehicles to go into a ditch and overturn. The driver of the second vehicle, a man in his mid-50s, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the pickup truck was transported to a local hospital with injuries. Emergency responders, including firefighters, worked to manage the scene and assist with the vehicle extraction. The investigation into the crash is ongoing, but Lt. Slusher noted that speed was likely a factor. There is no indication of alcohol or drug involvement. Residents have raised concerns about the safety of the intersection, citing frequent instances of drivers failing to stop.
We offer our condolences to the family and friends of the deceased victim. We also hope for a quick recovery for the injured.
Injury Car Accidents in Miami County
In recent years, Miami County has seen a troubling increase in traffic-related injuries. The Ohio State Highway Patrol reports that over 300 injury crashes occurred in the past year, marking a significant rise from previous years.
