Monclova Twp., OH (December 5, 2024) – An injury multi-vehicle crash occurred on Wednesday evening in Monclova Township, Lucas County, involving several cars on I-475. The crash, reported by the Toledo Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, took place at approximately 9:40 p.m. in the northbound lanes near milepost 06.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Mohamed Farah, 41, of Blacklick, Ohio, was driving a 2007 Freightliner commercial vehicle in the right lane of I-475 when Gibril Nasser, 28, of Dearborn, Michigan, driving a 2016 Wabash commercial vehicle, failed to maintain a safe distance and hit Farah’s vehicle. Kari Oberlin, 28, of Swanton, Ohio, who was driving a 2018 Ford EcoSport in the left lane, then collided with Mr. Nasser’s vehicle after the initial impact.
Gibril Nasser sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was transported by Monclova Emergency Medical Services to the University of Toledo Medical Center. Addam Nasser, 23, of Dearborn, Michigan, a rear passenger in Mr. G. Nasser’s vehicle, also sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to Toledo Hospital by Maumee Emergency Medical Services. Kari Oberlin sustained minor injuries and was transported to Sylvania Mercy Hospital by Maumee Emergency Medical Services.
Firefighters from Maumee and Monclova, along with emergency medical teams, worked diligently to extract individuals from the damaged vehicles. Authorities controlled traffic in the area, directing drivers away from the crash site to prevent further incidents. Multiple towing companies, including Bubba’s Towing and Joey’s Towing, assisted in clearing the wreckage from the scene.
The crash remains under investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol. Authorities are working to determine the full circumstances surrounding the crash and to evaluate the cause of the collision.
