Oxford, OH (October 22, 2024) – An injury pedestrian crash occurred on Tuesday afternoon in Oxford, leaving a 20-year-old pedestrian in critical condition. The incident that was reported by Police Chief John A. Jones of the City of Oxford Division of Police took place around 4:20 p.m. at the intersection of E Spring St and S Main St.
According to Chief Jones, a 19-year-old man driving a 2025 Jeep Wrangler was traveling westbound on Spring St when he attempted to turn left onto South Main St. The pedestrian, who was attempting to cross the street near the crosswalk, was struck by the Jeep. Emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene, and the pedestrian was airlifted to the University of Cincinnati Hospital by AirCare.
Fortunately, the driver of the Jeep was not injured in the crash. Authorities are investigating the incident, but Chief Jones stated that drugs and alcohol do not appear to have played a role in the collision.
Our thoughts and condolences go out to the pedestrian and their family during this difficult time.
