Pike Township, OH (November 16, 2024) – A serious car crash occurred on Saturday evening at the intersection of Oakland Road and US Route 68 in Pike Township, resulting in two people being seriously injured. The collision, which involved two cars, took place at approximately 7:39 p.m., according to the Georgetown Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Police reported that 22-year-old William Freimuth was driving a 2010 Ford F-150 westbound on Oakland Road when he entered the intersection and was struck by 43-year-old Melissa Lakes, who was driving a 2001 Mazda MPV southbound on US Route 68.

The impact caused both vehicles to veer off the road. The Ford F-150 collided with a utility pole while the Mazda MPV skidded into a nearby ditch. First responders from the local fire department arrived promptly, with firefighters assisting in the extraction of both drivers and their passengers from the wreckage.

Lakes and her passenger, 21-year-old Charity Effinger, were both transported to the hospital with serious injuries. Fortunately, no other individuals were reported injured in the crash. The Ohio State Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the cause of the accident.
