Preble Co, OH (January 17, 2025) – A serious truck crash occurred on January 16 in Preble County, leaving two individuals with injuries. The incident, reported by the Preble County Sheriff’s Office, happened at approximately 9:13 a.m. in the 4000 block of U.S. 127, north of Eaton.

According to the Preble County Sheriff’s Office, a 2017 Dodge Ram pickup truck, traveling north on U.S. 127, veered left of center and collided head-on with a 2025 Freightliner semi tractor-trailer. The crash forced emergency responders to work for nearly an hour to free the driver of the pickup truck. The driver, a 46-year-old male, was airlifted to Miami Valley Hospital with serious injuries via CareFlight after being transported to the Kettering Health Preble helipad.

The driver of the semi-tractor trailer sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported by ambulance to Reid Health in Richmond, Indiana.

In response to the crash, both lanes of U.S. 127 between U.S. 40 and State Route 726 were closed for several hours while crews cleared the scene. Firefighters, EMS personnel, and other emergency responders, including Eaton Fire and EMS, North Central EMS, and West Manchester Fire, were on the scene assisting with the extraction of the vehicles and controlling the situation. The Ohio Department of Transportation also helped with the road closures and traffic management.
