Stony Ridge, OH (November 19, 2024) – An injury car crash occurred on Tuesday morning when a Ford Fusion struck a stopped Ohio Turnpike maintenance truck at the I-280 interchange. The incident, reported by the Ohio State Highway Patrol, happened at approximately 11:52 a.m. on the southbound I-280 ramp towards the Turnpike toll plaza.
According to Lt. Erica Gockstetter of the patrol’s Swanton post, the maintenance truck was parked on the shoulder of the ramp with its emergency lights flashing. Jean Rodriguez, 24, of Elyria, Ohio, was driving the Ford Fusion when she veered off the right side of the road and collided with the truck.
Both Ms. Rodriguez and one of the two turnpike maintenance workers sustained injuries and were treated at the scene. Emergency medical teams quickly arrived and transported the injured to local hospitals. Firefighters assisted with vehicle extraction, ensuring the safety of all individuals involved.
Authorities managed the situation, controlling traffic flow and ensuring the area was cleared. The crash remains under investigation, and no charges have been reported at this time.
