Sycamore Twp, OH (December 12, 2024) – An injury car crash occurred Thursday night on I-71 in Sycamore Township, Ohio, leaving one driver critically injured. The incident, reported by the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office, took place at approximately 11:30 p.m. in the northbound lanes of the highway near the Kenwood area.

According to the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office, a pickup truck changed lanes and collided with a Honda Accord. The impact caused the pickup truck to veer off the road, hitting the concrete median multiple times before catching fire. The driver of the pickup was trapped inside the burning vehicle.

Firefighters quickly arrived at the scene and worked tirelessly to extricate the driver from the wreckage. Emergency medical teams then transported the critically injured driver by helicopter to UC Medical Center, where they were treated for life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Honda Accord was fortunately unharmed.

Authorities have suggested that speed may have been a contributing factor to the crash. Investigations are ongoing to determine the exact cause of the incident. In the meantime, I-71 was temporarily closed to allow for emergency response and the clearance of wreckage.

Our thoughts and condolences go out to those affected by this tragic event.
