Van Wert County, OH (December 8, 2024) – An injury car crash occurred Sunday afternoon in Ridge Township, Van Wert County, resulting in four individuals being injured. The accident occurred when a woman, suspected of being impaired by drugs, failed to yield at a stop sign. According to a press release from the Van Wert post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP), the crash took place around 2:08 p.m. at the intersection of State Rd and Mendon Rd.
The investigation revealed that Jadyn R. Bullinger, 20, of Van Wert, was driving a 2014 Chrysler 200 eastbound on State Rd. Bullinger failed to yield at the stop sign at the intersection with Mendon Rd, where Aireyona A. Thornsberry, 19, of Van Wert, was driving a 2009 Nissan Moreno northbound. Thornsberry’s car hit the right side of Bullinger’s car, causing a violent collision.
Lutheran Air Med Flight was called to the scene and transported one of the passengers, Chloe J. Morefield, 20, of Van Wert, to Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne with serious injuries. Bullinger was transported by Middle Point EMS, and Thornsberry, along with her passenger, Tabatha A. Thornsberry, 36, of Van Wert, were taken by Van Wert EMS to Mercy Health-St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima for treatment.
Firefighters assisted at the scene with car extrication, and law enforcement took control of traffic flow during the investigation. The Ohio State Highway Patrol has confirmed that drug impairment is suspected to be a factor in the crash. The incident remains under investigation.
