Van Wert Co, OH (January 11, 2025) – An injury two-car crash occurred on January 11 at approximately 12:09 p.m. at the intersection of US Route 224 and Van Wert Decatur Road, resulting in one person with minor injuries and another with serious injuries. The incident was reported by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Adam Schulte, 46, of Kettering, was traveling westbound on US Route 224 when he attempted to turn left onto Van Wert Decatur Rd. In doing so, Schulte pulled into the path of Marcus Mudd, 53, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, who was driving eastbound in a box truck. Mudd’s vehicle collided with Schulte’s car, pushing it off the north side of US Route 224.

Schulte was airlifted by helicopter to Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne, Indiana, with suspected serious injuries, while Mudd was transported to OhioHealth Van Wert Hospital with minor injuries. Emergency responders, including the Van Wert County Sheriff’s Office, Van Wert Police, Fire, and EMS departments, as well as Samaritan Air Ambulance, were on the scene.

Authorities closed off the intersection temporarily to manage the situation, allowing emergency personnel to extract the vehicles and control traffic. The Ohio Department of Transportation—Van Wert Garage and other local agencies assisted in securing the area and ensuring public safety. The crash remains under police investigation.
